Aelbert Cuyp
River landscape with seven cows and the ruins of Merwede Castle
For almost 200 years this work by Aelbert Cuyp was part of the famous Czernin collection in Austria. In the early 1990s doubts emerged about Cuyp’s authorship. We acquired this fabulous work (who else but the Dutch would paint cows grazing in a meadow?) in 2010. After more than 3 years of research the work was published as an authentic Cuyp in the Burlington Magazine – read below. One of our proudest moments!
