Democritus, The laughing philosopher

Laughing Democritus surfaced on the Swiss art market in the spring of 2020 after having not been seen in public in decades. After trying to acquire a work by the artist for almost 30 years, we were happy we finally were successful. As luck would have it, we recently (in 2024) acquired a second work by this artist who died at a young age in 1624.
