In this episode, we recall the story of seeing a large painting by a Flemish painter called Theodore Rombouts. Ilone saw the painting the gallery of Robert Noortman in Maastricht and asked if this was a real 17th century painting? “because it’s so colorful, large and quite modern!” Noortman chuckled and answered that it was of course real and by a “Flemish caravaggist: someone who travelled to Rome to study Caravaggio and started developing a new idea to painting“.
